31 people in America are dead and more seriously injured as a result of gun violence within a time window of under 24 hours. Our hearts are saddened and are with the families and love ones of these victims. These events also occurred after recent detailed discussions of the impact of gun violence in America at the National Medical Association’s (NMA’s) Annual Convention and Scientific Assembly in Hawaii last week.
NMA Recognizes the Disastrous Aftermath of Hurricane Dorian on the Commonwealth of the Bahamas
A Category 5 storm, hurricane Dorian hit the Commonwealth of the Bahamas last week leaving devastation to the country - especially the islands of Abaco and Grand Bahama Island. This island nation is 50 miles from the United States, with a majority population of people of African descent. We at the National Medical Association understand the true nature of the damage done to the homes, infrastructure, economy and most of all the people of this nation.
